History
My name is Dawn Rick, and my horse story starts when I was eight years old, with my calf Pokey and I jumping hay bales together. Then came lessons with English Riding Instructor, Audrey Miles. At ten, I purchased my first horse, Buck, using the money I saved working on our family farm in SW Wisconsin. There was no looking back. After High school, I participated in Barrel Racing, Roping, Cutting, Pole Bending and Jumping. Fifty years later, my love for the horse has only grown stronger. Now I enjoy Obstacle Courses, Working Equitation, Ranch Horse and Trail Riding.

Equine Bodywork for Balance, LLC
Dawn is the owner of Equine Bodywork for Balance, LLC. She uses a combination of Interactive Bodywork techniques and Groundwork Routines to bring your horse into balance, both physically and mentally, no matter their job or age. Whether your horse is for Performance (Barrel Racing, Roping, Dressage, Jumping or Working Equitation), a Trail Rider, or a Retired Friend, they need support. Our horses work hard for us, and we, at Equine Bodywork for Balance, would love to be a part of your Team in keeping your partner performing at their best.
Creating Balance
Horses are great at Compensating for pain when they are tight or sore. Thus, tension patterns develop in their bodies. This over-correction for soreness and discomfort can take days, or even years to show up. Areas of Compensation can result in the loss of Topline, overdeveloped and/or underdeveloped muscles, poor movement, not Tracking Up (shortened gait), sinking sternum, sore hocks and stifles, Hunters Bump, tripping, and so on.
By using a combination of Interactive Bodywork techniques and Groundwork Routines to support your horse, many of the things listed above can be remedied. Equine Interactive Bodywork releases tension patterns that create poor range of motion. Followed-up by Interactive Groundwork routines that improve movement patterns, your horse will be on their journey to becoming strong, supple and sound – I.e. physically, mentally and emotionally in Balance.

Team Approach
Equine Bodywork for Balance, LLC truly cares about your horse and their health, and believes a comprehensive Team Approach should be considered. Dawn cannot diagnosis or treat lameness issue or illnesses, but can add complementary care for your horse through Interactive Bodywork and Interactive Groundwork Routines under the primary care of your Veterinarian. If Dawn is working with your horse and feels that there are other issues that can’t be resolved with Interactive Bodywork or Groundwork Routines, she will be straight forward and suggest that you contact your Veterinarian, Chiropractor or Farrier. For the care of your horse, bodywork, correct conditioning, balanced nutrition, properly fitted equipment, and regular veterinary, dental and farrier care should be part of your horse’s wellness plan.

Randy
I was never much into horses or cats, but after I met Dawn, that all changed and they both grew on me. The cats are gone now, but the horses? Well let’s just say they’re not going anywhere. It’s been said, you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. On a daily basis I see Dawn working with horses and their owners and I couldn’t be more proud of her and what she does.
